Mental Health & The Church
Why does the Church
need to care about mental health?
The statistics that seized me…
Dr. Steve Grcevich – Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Founder and President of Key Ministry, presented the slide above in his keynote at MHATC.
1 in 4 adults and 1 in 5 children meet the diagnostic criteria for at least 1 mental health disorder. The U.S. is in a mental health crisis! Those with mental health issues and disabilities represent the largest underserved population by the church in North America.
Looking at the statistics above, a family with a child with autism is 84% less likely to attend church and those with depression are 73% less likely, and the list continues! The Church has the opportunity to help in both large and small ways! Watch to find out what you can do.
